Partnach Gorge

Steep rock faces and giant icicles

Hiking

2-3 hours

General information

The moment when you enter the gorge you find yourself surrounded by massive rock faces hardly compares to anything else.

What to do there

At around 700 metres, you hike through the Partnachklamm gorge. Steep rock faces, the green wild river and rock paths make the landscape unique.
Sometimes the gorge is damaged by storms and only partially accessible, details of which can be found on this website.

Seasonally, winter in the Partnachklamm gorge is a particular highlight: metre-high icicles hang down from the rock faces, melting here and there into glowing ice walls and thick layers of ice grow out of the rock.

The Partnachklamm can also be combined with many other hikes of all levels of difficulty.

If you have the time, you can walk there directly from the Hideout via the beautiful old town of Partenkirchen and the ski stadion (around 30-40minutes walking). From there it is about a 20 minute hike to the entrance and then 30 minutes through the gorge.
